Sisal Area Rugs

Sisal Area Rugs Made of 60% Coir and 40% Sisal face. Backing is latex. Cut into made-to-order sized rugs. The edges are bound with cotton binding tapes. Currently available in Natural only. Coir fibers are extracted from the husk of the coconut fruit. The abundant coconut palm tree continues to produce the fibers for the life of the tree. The fibrous shells are first retted in the native rivers of India for months before being hand spun into a strong durable yarn. Sisal Fibers are strong, thin fibers extracted from the spiny leaves of the Mexican agave plant. These plants are grown by farmers and the leaves harvested for the life of the plant, about seven years. New replacement plants continue the growing and harvesting cycle. As a flooring material, Coir is suitable for indoor use residentially or in light to moderate commercial application. Properties include very good soil hiding and repelling features. Coir is ideally suited in areas that receive hard tracking and abrasion. A very low maintenance floor covering. For use indoors only. Made in Portugal. Cut, finished and bound in USA.
