Saved from reaching landfills, these recycled bottles once again become useful — this time as beautiful glassware. These stylish and unique goblets and tumblers are transformed from ordinary bottles. ABOUT THE PROCESS Select bottles are received from recycling partners all over North America. They're washed, sterilized and separated into two components; 'head' (upper portion of the bottle) and 'base' (lower portion of the bottle). They're then smoothed and fire polished. The base becomes a tumbler by heating the neck, flaring and twisting to close it off to form the new goblet. In the final processing steps, they're put into an oven to remove all residual stress in the glass. The finished glass is then decorated through a process of inert media sandblasting. This recycled glassware is produced with attention to detail and quality. The inherent variations in the original bottles used may give rise to some nominal height variations and wall thickness variations in the finished glassware. These features are not only considered within acceptable product standards, but are part of the unique character and magic of this glassware. Glasses are dishwasher safe. They are not suitable for microwave use nor boiling hot water. On first-time use, frosted glasses may finger mark. This is not permanent and, like any finger marks on glass, can be washed off with detergent and warm water. For stubborn markings, a scouring pad can be used without fear of scratching the glass.
