Course:
Indoor Environmental Quality IEQ
Good building design is
inherently codependent with human beings. The influence of the
built environment upon our health and comfort is finally getting
much deserved attention, eliciting a growing awareness which is
creating a paradigm shift in design approaches. Mounting evidence
about the inter-relationship of occupant health and worker performance
to a buildings IEQ is significant.
The
goal of good IEQ is to effectively use design solutions that both
encourage higher performance of the building and enhance the occupants
health and productivity which ultimately also ends up translating
into numerous benefits for your clients. Additionally, there is
an inseparable relationship between IEQ and energy usage which
depends upon coordinated effort for maximum effectiveness.
Understanding
the issues presented in this course benefits your business, including
giving you competitive advantages and reducing your liability
exposure. Furthermore, your understanding and practice of good
IEQ strategies has downstream effects and is critical to alleviating
the environmental and health problems the world is facing today.
What You Will Learn
This course will enable
you to have a good understanding of the six systems relevant to
the indoor environment: natural lighting, acoustics, thermal comfort,
indoor air quality, occupant controls and ergonomics. You will
learn an overview of each system including green strategies. You
will learn that good IEQ involves coordinating the interactions
of these six systems and how they influence occupants and synergize
with energy performance. You will learn the impact of your decisions
and how you can make a difference.
At the End of this Course You Will be Able to:
Define IEQ and what constitutes good and poor IEQ.
Understand the basic tenets of all six key systems of IEQ.
